enjoyable seriesSeries plot keep moving forward with not only developing characters and plot twists but new characters adding to the mix。 Keep them coming。
Tony Hinde,
This felt like a minor improvement over the last book。 The enemy is upping his game while the Fool's identity is close to being revealed。 Lots of tension。The plot is greatly helped by the all-powerful chancellor's absences at critical junctures。 This allows the heroes to strain and grow。 As a plot device, it's a little clumsy but I don't mind。I enjoyed the heartwarming ending, and I will be happy to carry on with this series。 This felt like a minor improvement over the last book。 The enemy is upping his game while the Fool's identity is close to being revealed。 Lots of tension。The plot is greatly helped by the all-powerful chancellor's absences at critical junctures。 This allows the heroes to strain and grow。 As a plot device, it's a little clumsy but I don't mind。I enjoyed the heartwarming ending, and I will be happy to carry on with this series。 。。。more

Mark my words, Fool。。。。。。。 You will enjoy this book 110%。 I did, and you will, too。 Adventure, mystery, and friendship from beginning to end。 Thank you again, dear author!
Shonari,
Mark of the Fool 5 delivers another thrilling installment in the series, as Alex's journey takes a darker turn。 With suspenseful twists and the looming threat of the Ravener's powerful servants, this book keeps readers on the edge of their seats。 The Crymlyn swamp becomes a captivating and treacherous setting, adding depth to the story。 As the plot thickens and danger looms, it's impossible not to eagerly anticipate the next book in Alex's journey。 Bring on the next chapter! fun and entertainingEnjoyed the character development of Alex Teresa and Selena。 The evolution of Destra and of the two major enemies as well。
Ray Ritchey,
interesting Nice addition to the series。 A new direction is revealed that surprised me with dungeon cores and the ravener。 Excellent。
Cynthia S。 Peralta,
Each book is better than the last。。。。!The storyline remains strong and delightful! Just enough humor to make you quit biting your fingernails during intense scenes, and make you laugh in relief, our hero survives another Ravener attack! I love the fact that Claygon is finally showing his sentience。。。 I can hardly wait until the next book in the series, coming in January。 Read starting with book one before reading this book。。。to help you see the whole story to now。
Linda Hughes,
Fantastic just like the last fourA great continuation of the story。 A little bit grittier and with a few more character viewpoints than previously but great overall。 I can't wait for the next one! not terrible but MC Development is too slowThis series has a lot of potential but some series flaws as well。 The story is interesting。 But the author is taking forever unveil it。 5 books in and the MC still has zero offensive capabilities。 He can’t do much as throw a punch。 At this points his potions are laughable。 5 books in and we’re still wondering about the main plot point。 This series is not good enough to be a 10-book series。 I feel last 5 books represent a major lost opportunity。
Jamieson Allen,
Consistently rivetingReally enjoyed the next iteration of the series, although I missed the academy aspect in this book the constant action is appreciated and the characters faced true turmoil it seems。 I appreciate how the threats faced by the MC and Co。 aren’t one sided or singular but growing and changing as time goes on。 Great book, reminds me of childhood in a good way。
matthew henderson,
I think I might be jumping off this series。 This book was ok but was very event driven without advancing the development of the characters in any meaningful way。 I found myself skim reading through parts as some of the descriptions were repetitive and I wasn't super invested in what was going on。 It's a shame because I enjoyed the earlier books quite a bit。 The MC finding a way to turn an apparent handicap into a strength was great and the supporting cast were distinct and likeable in their pers I think I might be jumping off this series。 This book was ok but was very event driven without advancing the development of the characters in any meaningful way。 I found myself skim reading through parts as some of the descriptions were repetitive and I wasn't super invested in what was going on。 It's a shame because I enjoyed the earlier books quite a bit。 The MC finding a way to turn an apparent handicap into a strength was great and the supporting cast were distinct and likeable in their personalities。 。。。more

Rating 5。0 stars This is a really good series。 It has a nice balance between world building, magic system, character interactions, and crafting。 This one also has a pretty good story behind everything。 In this one the group is able to get a live dungeon core and run some experiments。 What they find leads to even more questions。 (view spoiler)[ Turns out Alex can use the core but Baelin can't。 What does this mean。 They find out another wizard from their home country is also able to use the core。 Rating 5。0 stars This is a really good series。 It has a nice balance between world building, magic system, character interactions, and crafting。 This one also has a pretty good story behind everything。 In this one the group is able to get a live dungeon core and run some experiments。 What they find leads to even more questions。 (view spoiler)[ Turns out Alex can use the core but Baelin can't。 What does this mean。 They find out another wizard from their home country is also able to use the core。 Does that mean anyone from their homeland can use the core or is specific to their god? Either way it leads to many more questions。 Alex has to get with the heroes again and they are made aware of the situation。 This causes a crisis of faith in some of them but they also need to know。 After they get their answer more problems emerge。 The ravener isn't happy with now having 3 people able to use dungeon cores and kicks it up a notch in his plans to get rid of them。 The base is attacked and it takes almost everything they have to survive。 (hide spoiler)] Overall a really enjoyable series。 I can't wait for the next one。 I just wish it was out on audiobook。 I no longer have the patience to wait the 3 months it takes after the books release to wait for the audiobook, so I read the last 2 books instead of listening。 Still good but I miss the audiobook version。 。。。more
Mike Goodman,
Awesome Series This story of a guy getting a hero’s mark that’s screwing up his life plans as he was just accepted to Wizards School。 The mark of the fool doesn’t let him do direct combat and supposedly no magic。 He works around his limitations by creating a combat golem, and non lethal potions。 Great stuff
Timothy DeSilva,
Great job! This is a fun series。 I finished it within a couple of nights。 I'm excited for the next one but nervous。 How long will the series go on for? I'm hopeful that he continues to resolve the plot and not stagnate。 Great job! This is a fun series。 I finished it within a couple of nights。 I'm excited for the next one but nervous。 How long will the series go on for? Garret,
A great addition The story just keeps getting better。 The stakes are higher and spells more devastating。 Reading the transformation of Alex from a scared nervous baker to the power house he is becoming has been a treat。
Travis Nixon,
keeps getting betterThe best book yet hands down。 A lot more action than previous books now that he has fleshed out the world and characters
Julie S,
Loved the bookOnly thing I am sad about is the fact I have to wait until January before the next book comes out。 I have enjoyed the whole series so far。 Well worth reading。 The series is on sale and worth buying。 😁😁

Sundeep,
I was super excited for this book after having binge read the first four books earlier this year。 And it turned out to be another great addition to this series。At first, events moved smoothly from the end of the fourth book (planting of the Aeld tree, experiments with the dungeon core, etc)。 When it moved the swamp sub-plot, I found it a bit tedious despite the interesting stuff about the witches。 Thankfully, the fight turned out to be awesome and much tougher than I expected。 The rest of the bo I was super excited for this book after having binge read the first four books earlier this year。 And it turned out to be another great addition to this series。At first, events moved smoothly from the end of the fourth book (planting of the Aeld tree, experiments with the dungeon core, etc)。 When it moved the swamp sub-plot, I found it a bit tedious despite the interesting stuff about the witches。 Thankfully, the fight turned out to be awesome and much tougher than I expected。 The rest of the book flowed well - I especially liked the Heroes working with the expedition team and coming to terms with the revelations。 The power-ups for characters at the end were great。I just wish there were more scenes based on the academy classes。 。。。more

Great book。 This series takes place is a deep and complex world that keeps getting better and better with each book。 If you are looking for a cookie cutter book that is just like ever other fantasy book then look some place else。 Love to see the progression of the characters and each book has a tightly different focus。
William Howe,
still goodBut I must admit, I *was* getting a little impatient with the pace of the narrative。 A few too many side stories dragging things out。I will pre-order the next, even so。 Hoping the plot inches closer to conclusion。
Dantegideon,
Mostly very good, but the last battle felt quite repetitive and overlong。 Plus, Baelin being in the can or whatever, whenever stuff goes down, is getting rather old。 Getting this pantomime feeling。
Jacob Brunner,
ahhI think the jig is finally up。 Alex Roth you have a lead on Mary Chase, and you will flip at the end of the book! ;)
